Why Natural Leather Is Ecological?
NATURAL ORIGIN
Natural leather comes from meat industry waste, so it’s not produced solely for leather goods. It repurposes materials that would otherwise be discarded. In contrast, “eco” leather is synthetic and made from petroleum, requiring significant energy and often emitting harmful substances.
DURABILITY
Natural leather can last for decades when properly cared for, gaining character over time. Synthetic leather tends to peel and crack after a few years, leading to more frequent replacement.
BIODEGRADABILITY
Vegetable-tanned natural leather is biodegradable and breaks down naturally. Synthetic leather decomposes very slowly and can remain in the environment for hundreds of years.
LOWER LONG-TERM RESOURCE CONSUMPTION
Although natural leather is more expensive upfront, its long lifespan reduces the need for frequent replacements, saving resources in the long run.
RECYCLING
Natural leather can be recycled and reused in other products. Synthetic leather, due to its chemical composition, is harder to recycle.
